Another weekend gone…
OK, I’m in the Army Reserve and I had drill this weekend. For you civilians who don’t know what drill is, I had to go in and be a a soldier this weekend. I’m usually in a good mood during drill, and this weekend was no different. BUT there was a particular incident that managed to piss me off and make me want to scream at someone.
My unit did PT (Physical Training) and I was the NCO in charge of warming everyone up and cooling them down. This was my first time to be in front of a formation, so naturally I was a little nervous. I knew I was going to mess up, everyone does at least once or twice their first time doing this. Most everyone was helpful in any way they could be because they understood the fact that I am learning how to do this….EXCEPT for one officer. She seemed to criticize everything I did.
She bitched about the way I gave orders, the way I said the names of the exercises, how long I held the stretches (about 10 seconds for each rotation or stretch). I mean this woman griped about EVERYTHING! The criticism doesn’t really bother me that much, (I can take criticism)…it was the fact that she bitched and moaned about what I did wrong, when she fell into my damn formation LATE! I hate it when people complain about other people and the way things are done before they look at themselves and realize they are just as wrong, if not more-so even, than the person or thing they are complaining about.
I wanted to just scream at the top of my lungs that she needed to be on time for formation next time, and when she is on time, then she can bitch and moan about whatever she wants to. “UNTIL YOU’RE SQUARED AWAY, SHUT UP ABOUT ME!”
*That’s what I wanted to do…..here’s what I did….
I stood there and took it. When she finally stopped talking, I took a deep breath, and realeased the soldiers for the day. Of course, as soon as I got in my car I started complaining about her to Ben…..I was pissed and had to vent. It’s just all part of it, doing your job, then hearing someone else complain about it, and finally moving on.
Anyway, I have class this morning so I guess I’ll end it here…
Until next time, Happy Blogging!
